Demonic Possession: Mental Illness Or Malevolent Lifeforms

by on June 18th, 2014

Mental IllnessAbstract

This paper explores the phenomenon of demonic possession. The demonic possession experience is transcultural. Demonic possession shares many characteristics of schizophrenia, and dissociative disorders. Most cases could be attributed to a mental illness. However, there are instances when perhaps the conventional diagnosis may not apply and another possibility presents itself.

Know Your Enemy: Fear

by on May 10th, 2011

A wise man once said that fear was the only true enemy, born of ignorance and parent to anger and hatred.

When we fear a thing, we deliver to it on a silver platter power over us. The power to control us in virtually every way, shape and form. You become the marionette and fear becomes the puppet master. With a twitch of its finger fear will move you this way, and that way having you sway about on its own whims. It will feed from the responses it gets from you and grow stronger and stronger.

The question now becomes; will you allow something to control you (more…)

Client Portal – A New Dimension In Paranormal Investigation

by on May 9th, 2011

I’ve been thinking over the weekend about how to make it easier on our clients to access data that we have collected on an investigation and I believe I’ve come up with something. A client portal. A place where your data can be easily accessed and kept secure if that is your preference. I haven’t got it up and running yet but hopefully by tonight or tomorrow evening it will be live and in “alpha” testing mode. From this point forward all relevant data that is collected on an investigation will be uploaded there for our clients.

I’ll be using  Case File #20110428-H “Henry’s Nightmare” as a test case. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. Feel free to email me and offer up suggestions to improve it.

The web address will be ClientPortal.AppalachianParanormalCenter.com

Mothman & Paranormal Activity or Sandhill Crane

by on November 5th, 2010

Halloween has just passed and it seems only fitting to address some of the lore and urban legends surrounding the Appalachian Mountain Regions.
Many years before Screen Gems Entertainment, Tom Rosenburg, Richard Gere and Laura Linney introduced the world to the legend of the Mothman through a motion picture entitled The Mothman Prophecies; the small town of Point Pleasant, WV. and its inhabitants, were well aware of the existence of a being that stoked fear in the hearts of everyone who claimed to have witnessed the sightings.

OK, well for now let us get some background information on this phenomenon and forget about the glitz and CGI of a Hollywood Production.

It is October 17, 1774 and a battle took place between Virginia militiamen and a tribal confederation led by; Shawnee Chief, Cornstalk. This battle took place between the Kanawha and Ohio Rivers, which would later; in 1794 (more…)

Demonic Hauntings: 10 Clues To Consider

by on September 22nd, 2010

Demonic entities are a rare occurrence and there are a lot of snake oil salesmen out there that will tell you otherwise. So I’m here to give you simple clues to look for when you’re attempting to ascertain whether or not you’re dealing with a demon.

#1 – Hatred of Scripture

Someone who is possessed by a demonic entity will not abide scripture. The recitation of scripture will elicit a violent reaction. Also the person generally should not be able to recite scripture; rarely will they be able to.  They will also tend to  show an aversion to things like a cross or holy water. If the location is infested with a demonic presence the recitation of scripture will have a decidedly pronounced effect in the area. There may be physical manifestations such as objects being hurled (more…)

Seek And Ye Shall Find: Researching The History Of Your House

by on September 13th, 2010

So you believe that you’ve had some paranormal experience in your home and believe that you’re living in a haunted house; now you want to know the history of your house but don’t know where to start. I know that this can seem like an insurmountable task but rest assured that it’s actually pretty easy to find out what you need to know about the history of your house.

First stop on your trek should be your local County Clerk’s office to look at land records. All you need is the address and you can work your way back in time to find the previous owners. Make sure you take notes of all the names you discover. You can also look for property tax related indexes but they may be at a different county office. Someone will at the County Clerk’s office (more…)

EVP 102: Analyzing Your Recording – The Down And Dirty How To Guide

by on September 4th, 2010

The first step in the process is to actually sit down with your studio quality headphones and listen through all of your audio recordings.

Make sure that you note the recording time for later analysis. Once you have gone through everything take your notes and go through each recording device and dump them to your computer, if you haven’t already done so. I’m not going to get into how to dump the audio here. You can either refer to your device’s manual or you can do a little research on the ole interweb and find that part out.

In this article, I’m primarily dealing with how to eliminate background noise in your possible evp recording. As stated in EVP 101 (more…)

Think Clearly Not Deeply: Introduction to Electromagnetic Fields

by on August 24th, 2010

“The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.”

– Nikola Tesla

An electromagnetic field is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects. It affects the behavior of charged objects in the vicinity of the field. The electromagnetic field extends indefinitely throughout space and describes the electromagnetic interaction. It is one of the four fundamental forces. The electromagnetic field can be viewed (more…)

Tool Time: Renovations & Paranormal Activity

by on August 21st, 2010

We’ve all heard the same song and dance about  how a family or business started renovating their property and shortly thereafter began experiencing paranormal activity.

Some believe that disturbance to the property may provoke spirits that have been otherwise dormant back to life as it were. Alterations to a home that an entity holds dear, and may be quite protective of, may stir enough emotional energy for the spirit to make its presence known.

The energy of demolition or construction is sometimes all that’s needed to provide the strength for a spirit to display activity. Renovations often come with teams of laborers, high stress (more…)

A Civil Action: Will Neighbors Sue Me?

by on August 13th, 2010

The question may have come to your mind “If my house is haunted and it gets out can my neighbors sue me if it lowers property values?”

The short answer to that question is NO.  Any judge that hears claims like this related to paranormal phenomenon is going to throw the case out of his court room.

Generally dealing in property the old saying caveat emptor (let the buyer beware) is the standby. There really is nothing that anyone can bring up against you that will hold up in court in the highly unlikely event that it does get that far.

So lets say that it does get around that your house is haunted. The broad term in real estate lingo is called stigmatized property. Stigmatized property refers to any condition that buyers or tenants may (more…)
